INR not a legal tender for domestic transactions in Sri Lanka
The Central Bank of Sri Lanka clarified that although the Indian Rupee (INR) has been authorized as a designated currency, it is not a legal tender for domestic payments/settlements in Sri Lanka.
Transactions between residents in Sri Lanka will continue to be conducted in the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR), which remains the country's legal tender.
