Petition against waiving off EPF, ETF loans fixed for consideration

The Supreme Court has scheduled a recall of the petition filed on 27 August, which seeks to prevent the Government from waiving off loans obtained from the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) and Employees’ Trust Fund (ETF) during the Domestic Debt Optimization (DDO) process. 

 

 

The decision to recall the petition was made after the Attorney General requested more time to file limited objections related to the case. 

 

 

The petition was filed on behalf of the Inter-Company Employees’ Union, its President Wasantha Samarasinghe, and six others by Attorney-at-Law Sunil Watagala.
