Harin-Manusha challenge SJB suspension in SC

Ministers Manusha Nanayakkara and Harin Fernando have submitted a Fundamental Rights petition to the Supreme Court, challenging their suspension from the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) and the subsequent disqualification from their Parliamentary seats. 

 

 

The petition targets SJB General Secretary Ranjith Maddumabandara. The SJB suspended their membership in May 2022 when they accepted Ministerial roles in the Government. 

 

 

They later resigned from these positions but were reappointed to the same roles in July 2022. The petition aims to overturn their suspension and restore their Party membership and Parliamentary seats.
