Monks tell P’ment to enact ‘anti-hate speech’ law

A group of monks has advised the Parliamentary Sectoral Oversight Committee on An Open and Accountable Government to address alleged "hate speech" against monks through legal measures.
The committee, led by Jagath Kumara Sumithraarachchi, met to discuss suggestions for legislation promoting open governance. The monks emphasized the need for a continuous national policy unaffected by political changes.
Sumithraarachchi confirmed the committee's active consideration of interventions and a forthcoming report on these proposals for Parliament's consideration.
