Sri Lanka–India economic partnership crucial to address sensitive issues - SL HC Milinda Moragoda
Sri Lanka's High Commissioner to India, Milinda Moragoda, has highlighted the potential benefits of the proposed "India-Sri Lanka economic partnership for maritime, energy, and financial connectivity." This partnership, unveiled during President Wickremesinghe's visit to India, includes initiatives such as power grid interconnection, a petroleum pipeline, and a feasibility study for land connectivity.
The economic partnership aims to strengthen bilateral relations and address the sensitivities of both countries. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured Sri Lanka of India's commitment to stand with the country in the face of challenges, in line with India's "Neighbourhood First" policy and its vision for "Security and Growth for All in the Region" (SAGAR).
The partnership also promotes cooperation in tourism, power, trade, higher education, and skills development.
Additionally, efforts to connect electricity grids, conduct feasibility studies for a petroleum pipeline, and increase FinTech connectivity are part of the agreement between the two countries.
