Ali Sabry notes need for IHL for post-conflict issues
During the 12th South Asia Conference on International Humanitarian Law (I.H.L.), Minister of Foreign Affairs and President's Counsel M.U.M. Ali Sabry emphasized the significance of implementing international humanitarian law in post-conflict scenarios to address humanitarian challenges arising from armed conflicts.
The conference, co-hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross and the Government of Sri Lanka, focused on the theme of "Protection of persons in contemporary armed conflicts.
I.H.L. before, during, and after armed conflict." Another speaker at the event, U.L.M. Jauhar, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the remaining humanitarian needs in Sri Lanka.
