Railways Dept. & DMT back digitisation as corruption antidote
Sri Lanka's Departments of Railways and Motor Traffic (D.M.T.) have supported the idea of digitization to combat corruption in the public sector.
Minister of Transport and Highways, Dr Bandula Gunawardana, had emphasized the potential of digitization to curtail corruption and boost state revenue.
The General Manager of Railways, W.A.D.S. Gunasinghe, highlighted that digitization aids revenue monitoring and reduces corruption risks.
The D.M.T.'s Commissioner General, Nishantha Weerasinghe, stated that their department has been actively digitizing services, curbing corrupt practices and enhancing efficiency.
The move towards digitization aims to reduce corruption in entities like Customs, Excise Department, Inland Revenue Department, Railways, and D.M.T.
