Forgery case ends after 20 years

After 20 years a case of forgery was concluded by jailing the two accused for a 10-year jail term by the Colombo High Courts today. At the end of a lengthy trial the court found out without a doubt that the two men had tried to sell part of a land which belonged to their relatives.

 

Accordingly the two men who attempted to sell  a land belonging to their relatives by preparing a forged deed were sentenced to a 10 year rigorous imprisonment term.

 

They were also  fined Rs one million each by the Colombo High Court today and will be serving an additional year each if they do not pay the fine.

 

High Court Judge Sashi Mahendran convicted Vipula Ajith Kumara and  S.A. Kalyanasiri in the case.
