Ravi and team bailed

Former Minister Ravi Karunanayake and six others were granted bail over the 2016 Central Bank bond scam.

 

Ravi Karunanayake was arrested after Attorney General (AG) Dappula de Livera  served  indictments on the bond scam ,a charge he has rejected .

 

The suspects are accused of the biggest scam ever reported to courts amounting to Rs. 1.5 billion. The AG has filed 24 indictments regarding the first Bond auction, 30 indictments on the second auction and 30 again on the third auction.

 

A travel ban has been imposed on all suspects and the extradition of Arjuna Mahendra former governor of the Central Bank at the time of the alleged scam took place is yet to happen. Government authorities say that they are in conversation with the government of Singapoore on the possibility of extraditing him to face charges in Sri Lanka.
