TNA reiterates federal power sharing
The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) of the Parliamentary Opposition has reiterated its stance on the political solution for the Tamil national ethnic question in Sri Lanka.
The TNA emphasized that power-sharing must be done in a federal structure, aligning with the aspirations of the Tamil people expressed in elections since 1956.
They called for implementing the 13th Amendment to the Constitution and conducting long-delayed Provincial Councils (PCs) Elections. TNA Parliamentarian M.A. Sumanthiran urged President Ranil Wickremesinghe to hold the PCs Elections promptly to facilitate more meaningful power devolution.
The TNA maintained that power-sharing must be in a federal system, and any opposition to implementing the 13th Amendment would violate the Constitution.
