Govt.-Opposition MPs discuss leadership of political alliance
Several Government and Opposition Parliamentarians in Sri Lanka are engaging in discussions to form a broad political alliance that aligns with current trends.
Opposition MP Nimal Lanza is reportedly involved in launching this new political alliance. The discussions include MPs from various parties, and they aim to create a political force that addresses the country's urgent needs and moves away from the existing political culture, which has faced setbacks in various sectors.
There has yet to be decided leadership of the proposed alliance, and leadership decisions will be made in the future. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is also holding discussions with various parties as part of its political activities.
Some reports suggest that several Opposition MPs and those dissatisfied with the ruling party's program have discussed with Lanza and informed President and United National Party Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe of their preparations for the new alliance.
