Single-use plastic banned from March 31

The Central Environement Authority stated that single-use plastic will be banned from March 31, by a special gazette (No. 2211/51) issued on January 21, 2021 with regards to plastic regulation.

 

As per the sources, the said  ban will be imposed on polyethylene terphthalate (PET) or polyvinyl chloride (PVC) materials that are utilized for packaging agricultural materials .

 

As per the Central Environmental Authority, the ban will be imposed on the following items (for a particualr process, trade or industry)

 

1. net volume 20 ml / net weight 20 grams equal or less sachet (except for use in food and medicines packaging)


2. Windy Toys – (except balloons, balls, floats on water / swimming pools and water sports equipment)


3. Cotton Buds with Plastic Stem (Except plastic cotton buds used for medical / clinical treatment) are prohibited.
