Focus on weather today

Heavy showers exceeding 75 mm are expected in the Galle, Matara Districts and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central Provinces. Several spells of showers are also expected in the North Western Province.

Showers or thundershowers will occur in the Uva province and in the Ampara, Batticaloa and districts during the evening. The Met Department warns that strong winds of 40-50 kmph are likely in the western slopes of the Central Highlands, North, North Central, North Western, Southern Provinces and in the Trincomalee District.

The Meteorological Department urges the public to take necessary measures to prevent accidents caused by lightning and wind.
