Corona spike inevitable

A rise in the number of Covid-19 cases is inevitable just after the Sinhala –tail New Year. Thousands have flocked to the marketplace with little respect for precautions. Chief Epidemiologist Dr. Sudath Samaraweera said the number of cases spiked after Christmas in December, the increased public movements during the Christmas season lead to the eruption of multiple new clusters, and the same could be expected in terms of the April new year.

 

The people themselves will inevitably experience the consequences of irresponsible public activities in the coming days for not following or adhering to COVID-19 guidelines during the festival season, Public Health Inspectors' (PHI) Union Head Upul Rohana said.
