81 NVQ certificate issuing institutions suspended for offering low standard courses
The Sub Committees on Tertiary Education of COPE (Committee on Public Enterprises) in Sri Lanka have revealed that 81 institutions offering NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) certificate courses have been suspended due to low standards.
The Sub Committees recommended measures to address this issue, including formulating a mechanism to publish the names of these institutions through newspaper notices and to take legal action to ban them.
The Committee also emphasized the importance of identifying fake NVQ certificates and amending relevant Acts to strengthen legal action against those producing counterfeit certificates.
Representatives from various institutions attended the meetings to discuss these matters.
