Grade 9 Life skills : World of Work - Part 3

We discussed several fields of employment that exist in the world of work in the previous article. It is essential that one does his or her job with contentment and enthusiasm. It will not only help the person to develop his own skill set, but will also assist him to reduce unnecessary mental stress. However, one should not be profit oriented at all times when he or she is well established as a professional. As virtuous and dutiful citizens, it is essential to understand that values are more important than the monetary aspects and status in life. A good citizen will always contribute towards social welfare despite his position or power.  It should be noted that jobs differ from the place of work as well and they can be further categorized in to several groups like domestic employments, outdoor employments, employments that are based on fixed locations and mobile employments. Domestic employments that are also known as indoor jobs are done typically inside the buildings or they may involve visiting several offices in one’s country or abroad. These indoor employments include office and administration jobs, customer service jobs, and etc. that take place in office spaces, shops and factories.

The outdoor jobs are inculcated with much freedom and excitement.  Construction work, farming, driving vehicles, beach lifeguards, tour guides, rescue work and etc. fall under this category.  The jobs that are fixed to a particular locations are beauty parlors, jobs in a factory, shop keepers, bakeries, typists, and etc. Mobile employments involve movement from one place to another. The job too moves along with the person who performs it. In this case, some people sell goods by moving from one place to another and some work as freelance writers. Mobile jobs can be done remotely and there is no fixed place of work. Each and every job in the world of work contribute to the society equally and it is inappropriate to categorize jobs based on several standards, because all jobs are inculcated with some respect and value. Job supply is paramount for the sustenance of the society.
