Grade 6 ICT : Using Mouse and Keyboard to use Application Software - Part 5

Video Editing Software are used to edit the video recordings where the user can edit them by removing the unnecessary parts, adding effects such as colors and brightness, enhancing the quality, changing the order and etc.  A video tape is a recording of visual images and sound. These recordings are visible to the sight unlike the audio recordings.  The TV programs that are being telecasted on television are video recordings and they typically have a visual aspect. Software like Windows Movie Maker, Openshot, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Lightworks, and PowerDirector are examples for video editing software.

 

Windows Movie Maker is a video editing software designed by the Microsoft co-operation and we can create, edit and publish the videos on several platforms like One Drive, YouTube and etc. This is a user friendly software that allows us to easily drag and drop items and effects when we edit the content. Several features like video transitions, effects, titles, credits, timeline narration, auto movie and etc. are available in this software.

 

We should be mindful of the fact that we must follow the expected ethical standards when we record and edit the audio and video tapes. 

 

• > The permission of the owners of voice recordings and images (the people or their talents featured in them) should be obtained. If the owners are small children, the permission of their parents or the guardians or the school should be taken.
•  
• > Their identity must be protected when the recordings are being edited and it must be done in a way that it will not make them uncomfortable.
•  
• > A genuine and a true message or an idea should be communicated through edited recordings and spreading false messages or information must be avoided.
•  
• > Audio and video recordings must not be edited with the aim of supporting anti-social activities, fraud and many other misdeeds.

As we have mentioned earlier in the first part of this article, it is very essential that you gain the practical knowledge in relation to these software. You can do the exercises as required and it will help you to understand the theoretical knowledge better.
