Fourth place up for grabs

Fourth place up for grabs

The most important clash between Army SC and Air Force SC will take place at Panagoda on February 8 with the winners securing their berth for a Super Round Cup segment feature which will commence two weeks after the completion of round one.

Army, though not consistent, have done well later in the first round after the thumping from Kandy SC in the Central Hills. They got some outstanding players in their camp with Dikkumbura, Talwatte, Akram and Manoj all outstanding players both in attack as well in defence. They are coached by Shamlie Nawaz one of the best and experienced coaches in the country.

Meanwhile, Air Force too played good rugby but consistency and playing the game for the entire 80 minutes has been an issue for them for not pacing out the game. Gayantha Iddamalgoda and Danushka Dabare been their key players. Though a tough ask, a win is needed for Air Force, playing away from home at Panagoda. They are coached by Ashela Deshapriya.

CH vs Navy

Much was expected from CH and FC this season under Sanath Martis coaching but they gave away as many as two games which easily could have ended in their favour.

Players could not end the 80-minute game though with some big names as a team failed to live up to expected standards. They will ended up in Plate segment even if they win this.

Led by Janidu Dilshan they got Chandimal, Absal in their unit.

Meanwhile, the Sailors look a sorry outfit without a single win this season and the possibility of missing out from the Clifford Cup knock out as well due to their ninth position in the table. They are led by Stephan Gregory with Thilina Weerasinghe, Shabith Mursheen Koojana Kulatunge in their outfit. This will be a daunting task for the Welisara outfit and their Head Coach Sumedha Malewena.
