Lightning strike kills candidate, injures six

P. Shashikala (47), a Ceylon Workers Congress candidate for the Haliela Pradeshiya Sabha, died and six others were seriously injured after lightning struck a group of workers in Neluwawatta, Ettampitiya on Monday evening.

 

The injured were admitted to the Ettampitiya Hospital.

 

Ettampitiya Police are conducting investigations.
