Govt. to settle unpaid power bills of 7 State hospitals

The Health Ministry and the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) have agreed to settle the unpaid electricity bills of seven State hospitals, totalling Rs. 160 million.
The National Hospital of Sri Lanka has an unpaid bill of Rs. 120 million. In contrast, six other hospitals, including the National Dental Hospital and Lady Ridgeway Hospital for Children, have Rs. 40 million arrears.
Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella stated that discussions with the CEB and the Auditor General led to the decision to prepare a payment schedule in coordination with the Treasury to settle these outstanding bills.
