National policy proposed to ensure equality in education

The special select committee tasked with improving education in Sri Lanka has recommended eliminating the classification of schools as provincial and national. 

 

 

The committee points to Article 27(2)(h) of the constitution, which upholds the principle of equality, as the basis for this suggestion.

 

 

Instead, the committee proposes implementing a national policy to ensure equal access to quality education for all students, regardless of their geographical location or background. The aim is to create a more equitable education system in the country.
