Decision on distributing imported hatchable eggs pending

The Ministry of Trade, Commerce, and Food Security has yet to finalize how the distribution of imported hatchable eggs will be carried out among poultry farmers. 

 

 

However, the eggs are expected to be distributed soon to uplift the small and medium-scale domestic poultry industry, which the economic crisis has severely impacted. 

 

 

The distribution will include both private and State-owned poultry farms. Still, such distribution has yet to take place, as a decision is pending. The All Island Poultry Association (AIPA) requested the Minister provide freshly hatched chicks. Still, there has yet to be an official notification on this matter.

 

 

 The AIPA also requested that the chicks be reasonably priced to support struggling poultry farmers.
