The program will be launched for youth island wide

The Ministry of Youth and Sports is planning to launch a national youth program.

The program is targeted at the entire youth population of Sri Lanka between the ages of 15-29 - 23.2% or around 5.6 million and initiates “Hope for Youth” to meet the challenges faced by young people and their aspirations.

The government said the main objective of the program was to reduce youth unemployment from 28% to 12%.

 The new program will be implemented from 2021 targeting all Divisional Secretariats through the National Youth Services Council.
