SJB MPs visiting markets to check rice prices

The Samagi Jana Balawegaya members of Parliament have visited retail markets to ascertain food prices including rice. The objective was to findout whether the assurances given by Trade Minister Bandula Gunawardena that rice was available for a regulated price in the market were correct.

 

Members of Parliament including Nalin Bandara, Harshana Rajakaruna, S.W. Alawathuwala and S.M.Marikkar visited the Narahenpita Economic centre to check on prices.

 

“Our findings were that though the minister claimed that rice was available at a regulated prices, it was not the case”, MP Nalin Bandara noted.

 

The MPs claimed that the Minister’s promises were not materializing in the markets and they were false claims.
