Permission to use local saline in Sri Lanka

State Minister Prof. Channa Jayasumana said that the government has approved the purchase of saline from September 1 by the government from the factory which was started as a joint venture between the State Pharmaceutical Corporation and a private company.

 

He further said that the basic saline, dextrose solution, Hartmann solution and mannitol solution, which are manufactured in a factory in Kundasale Industrial Park, are supplied to government hospitals with the logo of the State Pharmaceutical Corporation (SPMC).

 

The Minister of State said that due to this local production, Sri Lanka will be able to achieve a net savings of US $ 5 million annually and it is planned to export 25 million bottles of saline per year.
