Pera Uni. Suspension of the Registrar and two officers

The Registrar of the University of Peradeniya and two other senior officials have been suspended by the university administration with immediate effect.

A spokesman for the university administration said the three officers had been charged with misappropriating machinery and equipment from the university work department and employees to come to the registrar's home during office hours without permission for repairs.

He said a government audit team had arrived at the scene while the work was being carried out and reported it to the university administration, who suspended the three officials during an investigation after explaining their case.
