Gemunu Wijeratne says that most of the private bus owners have left the service

Gemunu Wijeratne of the Ceylon Private Bus Operators Association said that more than 30,000 private bus employees have resigned due to the travel ban imposed in the country.

He said 75% of private buses (nearly 15,000 buses) could not get off the road because they had been parked for nearly a month.

However, he said that although several buses had returned to the road after the opening of the country, the government could not resume transport services as required as they were run and managed by the owners.
