Namal Rajapaksa says Central Bank and police should take steps to regulate illegal pyramid schemes

The Central Bank and the Sri Lanka Police should act when there is a report that someone is abusing or misleading the public about their investment portfolio.


Minister Namal Rajapaksa has said that the new regulations will not help anyone if they are not regulated now and if the society is flooded with these.


But he said the existing law was sufficient to prevent these proposals. Such proposals are illegal in Sri Lanka under the Banking Act No. 30 of 1988. "Sri Lanka has a really good education system, but it only caters to certain sections. As a result, children's knowledge of financial management is much lower than in the rest of the world.


“Rs. 3 million each, of which 40% is the minimum investment for entrepreneurial development. At the moment, we are in talks with some e-commerce platforms to come and help us. We also talk to the supermarket chain to see how these products are brought to their networks, ”he said.
