Gayantika Abeyratne sets two new records

Gayantika Abeyratne of the Sri Lanka Navy set two new Sri Lankan records in the women's 1500m and 5000m events at the 99th National Athletics Championships held at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.

 

In the women's 1500m, she set a new national record of 4 minutes 9.12 seconds (4: 9.12), surpassing Nimali Liyanarachchi's 2019 record of 4 minutes 15.86 (4: 15.86).

 

She won the women's 5000m in 15 minutes 55.84 seconds (15: 55.84 seconds), setting a new Sri Lankan record in 2019, breaking Nilani Ratnayake's record of 16 minutes 17.82 (16: 17.82).
