DG Govt Information Nalaka Kaluwewa resigns

Director-General of the Government Information Department Nalaka Kaluwewa has informed his staff that he was stepping down from his position.

 

He spoke to his staff and said he had sent in his resignation letter,  but did not give reasons. Minister of Media Keheliya Rambukwella confirmed his resignation.

 

Mr Kaluwewa was initially appointed to the post by former President Maithripala Sirisena. Sources said that an event which had taken place in the SLBC during the former government had promoted his resignation.

 

It was only last week the Chairman of the SLBC Jagath Wickremesinghe and the entire board was told by the minister to step down.
