CWG 2022: Sri Lanka’s Nethmi Poruthotage wins bronze in wrestling

 

Sri Lankan wrestler Nethmi Poruthotage won a bronze medal in the women's 57kg freestyle wrestling event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham today (August 05).

Earlier today, she was defeated by India's Anshu Malik in the quarterfinals via technical excellence (with no points by the opponent).

However, in the bronze medal match, the 18-year-old secured victory with a technical victory over Australia's Irene Symeonidis.
