Attempt to coverup death of youth detected

An attempt to cover up a death caused by a firearm of a policeman as a death by a trap-gun has been unearthed during an investigation.

 

A young employee attached to the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) had died in the Karandeniya recently when a friend was handling a weapon belonging to another friend who was a policeman went off accidentally.

 

The youth was admitted to the Balapitiya hospital where he was passed away.

 

However, his colleagues told the police that when they were attending to their work a trap gun setup for a wild bore had accidently gone off and as a result the worker was killed.

 

But, investigations revealed that one of the workers were trying to handle the weapon of the policeman and it had gone off accidentally.

 

The policeman had hidden the weapon thereafter. Six suspects are due to be arrested shortly over the death.
