Another oil leak on the X-Express Pearl

An oil spill has been reported from the Express Pearl, which sank recently, causing severe damage to the ocean and the coast.

Environment Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said the government could not do anything about the oil spill as the ship was still owned by the company.

The Minister further stated that the government has informed the company as the company could leave the ship completely if it is forced to do so.

 

Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera stated that only the relevant shipping company has the responsibility to rectify this problem.
