50% of Covid patients at the National Hospital need oxygen

Speaking at a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau yesterday, Dr. Upul Dissanayake said that at present about 200 Covid patients are being treated at the Colombo National Hospital and 50% of the patients receiving treatment are in need of oxygen.

 

He said there was a decrease in the number of patients infected with Covid with travel restrictions but again there was an increase in the number of patients.

 

Chief Physician of the Colombo Municipal Council Ruwan Wijayamuni said that 30% of the people infected with Covid in Colombo belong to the Delta type.

 

Dr. Dissanayake said that steps should be taken to reduce the spread of the virus by adopting Covid vaccines, wearing masks and following other Covid rules.
