Duo nabbed for abducting woman and 2 children

Two suspects were arrested on Tuesday at the Gelanigama Interchange of the Southern Expressway for attempting to abduct a woman and her two children. 

 

 

The 37-year-old woman and her children, aged 15 and seven, were allegedly abducted in Bandaragama due to a family dispute. Two individuals arrived at the victims' residence, threatened them, and forced them into a car. 

 

 

As they headed towards Galle, the woman cried out for help at a checkpoint near Gelanigama Interchange. A police sergeant on duty at the checkpoint intervened, leading to the inspection of the vehicle. 

 

 

The suspects and the vehicle were handed over to the Bandaragama Police for further investigation. The primary suspect is believed to be the woman's estranged second husband, whose abduction stems from a dispute between them.
