Man killed, another injured in Meetiyagoda shooting

A 47-year-old man was killed and another injured in a shooting incident in Meetiyagoda, police said.

 

According to police, the shooting occurred in front of a restaurant when unidentified gunmen on two motorcycles opened fire and fled the scene. 

 

The injured men were admitted to Balapitiya Hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries.

 

The deceased was 47 years old, and the injured man, 52, both residents of the Meetiyagoda area.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that a T-56 assault rifle was used in the attack.

 

The Meetiyagoda Police have launched further investigations to arrest the suspects.
