Heavy showers above 100 mm likely after 2 p.m. today

Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, North-Western, and Central Provinces of the island after 2 p.m. today, the Forecasting Division of the National Meteorological Centre said.

 

They said the atmospheric conditions are getting favorable for afternoon thundershowers in most parts of the island today.

 

Several spells of showers may occur in the Eastern, Uva and Southern Provinces in the morning.

 

However, misty conditions can be expected at some places in the Central, Sabaragamuwa, and Uva Provinces and in the Kalutara, Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

 

Meanwhile, showers will occur in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Trincomalee to Galle via Batticaloa and Hambantota. 

 

Showers may occur at a few places in the sea areas off the coast, extending from Puttalam to Galle via Colombo, during the afternoon or night.

 

Winds will be easterly or variable in direction and the speed will be 30 kmph, and the sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate.
