Minimum salary increased to Rs.17,500

According to the provisions of the National Minimum Wages Act, the National Minimum Wage has been set at Rs.12,500 and a committee appointed on the recommendations of the National Labour Advisory Council recommends that the wage be increased to Rs.17,500.

 

The National Minimum Daily Wage of Rs. 500 will also be increased by Rs. 200 to Rs. 700.

 

The proposal submitted by the Minister of Labour and Foreign Employment Manusha Nanayakkara to amend the National Minimum Wage Act has been approved.
