Woman killed in crash involving MP Ponnambalam’s vehicle

A woman was killed after a vehicle belonging to All Ceylon Tamil Congress (ACTC) Parliamentarian Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam crashed into her at a pedestrian crossing at Bolawatta Junction in Puttalam.

 

The MP was reportedly inside the jeep at the time of the incident. 

 

According to the police, the accident occurred while the MP was returning to Jaffna from Colombo along the Puttalam-Colombmain road. The woman was admitted to hospital and later succumbed to her injuries.

 

The driver of the MP's vehicle was arrested by the Wennappuwa Police in connection with the accident. 

He was later released on bail after being produced before court.
