Vehicle auctioning caused massive losses - Dayasiri to go to Bribery Commission

Vehicle auctioning caused massive losses - Dayasiri to go to Bribery Commission

Claiming that the government has incurred a massive loss through the selling of the state vehicles, MP Dayasiri Jayasekara said he will lodge a complaint with the Bribery Commission over the matter.

The MP said the government incurred a massive loss by adopting a tender procedure without selling the vehicles in a public auction.

He said the government could have earned some Rs. 650 to 700 million if the vehicles had been sold in a public auction.

"They used a tender procedure without auctioning the vehicles. We hope to file a complaint with the Bribery Commission regarding the incident," he said.

The MP said it is reported that the government has earned only Rs. 200 million by selling 17 vehicles.
