NPP fulfilled key promise to reform political culture - General Secretary

The National People's Power (NPP) has fulfilled the most expected and key promise of changing the political culture in the country, where perks and privileges of politicians, including the President, have been cut down while putting a stop to fraud and corruption, NPP General Secretary Dr. Nihal Abeysinghe said.

 

He told that the NPP government will introduce a new Constitution as promised, which includes the abolition of the executive presidency.

 

"We did not give a time frame for introducing the new Constitution. However, we will do it within our tenure," he said.

 

Dr. Abeysinghe said the PTA will also be abolished as promised. "NPP government stabilised the economy and increased public sector salaries as promised,' he said.
