Weather Alert - Public to be vigilant to minimize damages due to strong winds and lightning during thundershowers

Showers or thundershowers are expected in the Central and Sabaragamuwa provinces at times. Showers with a total rainfall of 50 mm are forecast in some parts of these areas.

Showers will fall in the Western and North-western provinces, as well as the Galle and Matara districts.

Strong gusty winds of up to 60 kmph are expected on the western slopes of the Central hills at times, and gusty winds of up to 50 kmph are expected in the Northern, North-Central, North-Western, Western, and Southern provinces, as well as the Trincomalee district.
