The Penal Code will be amended to abolish the death penalty for minors

Ali Sabri, the Minister of Justice, is scheduled to introduce in Parliament tomorrow the Penal Code (Amendment) Bill, which will provide for the imposition of penalties on minors instead of the death penalty.

 

The Regulations drafted by the Minister of Justice under Juvenile Offenders (Training Schools) (Amendment) Bill and Civil Procedure 840 (Chapter 101) are read in conjunction with Section 214 of that Code and No. 2234/2021.

 

The Juvenile Offenders (Training Schools) (Amendment) Bill seeks to raise the age limit for rehabilitated persons to 22, which was lower than the previous 18.
