The Meteorological Department has issued red warnings for thundershowers in 11 districts

The Meteorological Department warns that there could be heavy showers or thundershowers in 11 districts.

More than 100 mm of rain is expected in the southwestern part of the island due to the southwest monsoon. Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Galle, Matara districts and in the Western, North Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces, the Met Department said.

The districts which have been warned of heavy showers or thundershowers are Galle, Matara, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Kegalle, Kandy, Nuwara Eliya, Colombo, Kalutara and Ratnapura.
