Sugar importers are requesting the Ministry of Finance to remove the control price imposed on sugar

Several major and large scale sugar importers have requested the Ministry of Finance to remove the control price imposed on sugar.

ued to sell white sugar at a controlled price of Rs. 30. The control price for brown sugar is Rs. 125, current retailers sell at Rs. 135 per kilogram.

 

He stated that more than 7000 metric tons of sugar and more than 300 containers are currently being held at the port. About 3500 metric tons of sugar worth Rs. 340 million was loaded in those containers.
