Suez block will affect Sri Lanka

It may take a number of days before clearing the ship blockade is in the Suaz. Currently, ships are been to reroute ships bound for the Suez Canal around Africa’s Cape of Good Hope.

 

This option could very  costly alternative  but nothong else could be done to avoid the block of vessels caused by the giant container ship blocking the canal. A number of ships in the blockade are carrying gas .

 

Korean container ships heading to Asia from Brittan  have decided to go around Africa.

 

A ol price hike is a real possibility.

Supply chains in Sri Lanka will certainly be affected said maritime logistics specialist in Colombo. Rohan Masakorala , CEO  of the Shippers' Academy International said that the supply chains for Sri Lanka wll be affected and it is difficult tp predict the level of impact at this point of time. Masakorala said that if this continues for a few days more Sri Lankan exporters will also face difficulties.

 

The president of the Sri Lankan Freight forwarding Association, Imran Ticklan said that   there will be delays in imports as well as exports.
