SJB submits proposals for constitutional amendments

The Samagi Jana Balawewa, the main opposition party, has put forward a series of proposals for a new constitutional amendment, including the abolition of the executive presidency and the abolition of the 20th Amendment.

The Leader of the Opposition Sajith Premadasa stated that the proposal has been handed over to Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

In its proposals, the SJB also seeks to establish a tripartite check and balance sheet and an independent commission and National Security Council.
