Ranjan pleads guilty in the second contempt of court case

He has pleaded guilty in the second case filed against former parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake on charges of contempt of court.

The former parliamentarian had earlier pleaded not guilty to a second contempt of court charge.

However, when the case was taken up today, President's Counsel Anura Maddegoda, appearing for Ramanayake, said that his client was ready to plead guilty to the charges.

Mr. Ramanayake said he had no intention of insulting or insulting the Supreme Court, but apologized unconditionally.

Ramanayake's lawyer then asked the court to give him a date to submit written submissions in this regard.

The bench directed that written submissions be made on May 4 and adjourned the case indefinitely.
