PUCSL approves island-wide power outage today

Janaka Ratnayake, Chairman of the Public Utilities Commission said that there will be a one hour rotation power cut from 8.30 am to 7.30 pm.

He said that the power supply in the Southern Province will be cut off for three hours from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm.

The Public Utilities Commission (PUC) had yesterday (Jan. 21) announced a power cut of one and a half hours in the Southern Province alone.

It had stated that there would be no need for power cuts in other areas today (21) due to insufficient fuel reserves and allocations.
