Showers will occur in the Galle, Matara districts and in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Northwestern provinces, the Met Department said.

Elsewhere, showers or thundershowers of up to 50 mm are expected in the evening.

The Meteorological Department urges the general public to take steps to minimize the damage caused by strong winds and lightning.
